As Agile practitioners, It’s not just about the end result but also about the journey and the contributions of each individual along the way.
I remember being in a meeting as an agile facilitator and saw the team members giving themselves kudos, the Product Owner recognizing team members and not a single recognition or acknowledgement. I wasn’t too surprised because I have experienced it a lot that it has become a norm. However, speaking with other agile professionals, Scrum Masters, RTE, Coaches looks like the experience is the same.
Agile is a culture of Respect, Recognition and Reward. The three R’s. These are like pillars of a positive corporate culture.
Respect is the foundation, acknowledging the unique value and culture each individual brings to the table.
Recognition goes a step further, seeing and appreciating the contributions that every team member makes, beyond mere statistics.
Reward is the tangible expression of gratitude, whether it’s through a heartfelt thank you note, a well-deserved promotion, or a simple gift card.
Together, these three R’s create an environment where employees feel seen, appreciated, and motivated.
They are more than just a pat on the back; it’s an acknowledgment that people are the heartbeat of our projects.
Let’s continue to foster an environment where every effort is noticed, every achievement is celebrated, and every team member feels valued and where respect is mutual, recognition is frequent, and rewards are meaningful.
Pass the baton, celebrate the milestones, because in Agile, every lap counts, and every baton passed is a step towards collective success.
