Will your org chart take you where you want to go? or is it just to massage your ego?
Is your org chart strategically aligned or hierarchically inclined?
Is your org chart a ladder of opportunity or just a pyramid scheme for egos?
As we stand at the crossroads of digital transformation, it’s time for a paradigm shift. We must craft org charts that are not just strategically aligned but also culturally attuned, ensuring that every contributor is valued and every voice is heard. Only then can we unlock the full potential of our teams and lead the charge in innovation and growth.
I remember working as a consultant really hard daily to deliver. I enjoyed working in this company but daily I’m reminded that I am a second class citizenship there because I was not a full time employee. My badge color was different, I was not invited to corporate events or dinners, I was restricted to meetings I can attend, not included in decisions even though it directly affects the work that I do for the company.
This experience begs the question: where does this toxic culture stem from? Where employees feel they are superior and consultants are treated as second-tier?
I’m sure there are a million reasons corporate leadership can use to justify it.
But the reality is for companies to compete in the digital space, we have to revisit how our organizations are structured; our old operating models.
In the digital space the competition is not going to be just about size but about people.
As digital leaders, we must stop the toxic culture of superiority and second-class citizenship.

The future belongs to those who recognize that the digital race will be won not by the color of your badge or by titles or tenure but by the right mix of talent.
Let’s not just adapt to the digital age; let’s lead the way with humanity and vision.
The right team, empowered by a nurturing culture, is the cornerstone of innovation and competitive advantage.
