I love Scrum Masters, I have been a Scrum Master I understand the rigors and joys of the role.
However, most Scrum Masters I have spoken with have this unsettling feeling of the word Scrum “Master”. It feels watered down, karaoke and doesn’t capture the essence of the work they do.
Most people with the title “Scrum Master” do Scrum, Kanban and other variations.
Agile is continuous learning and growth, not the pursuit of mastery. It’s about the journey, not the destination.
As professionals who have embraced Agile, we understand that true agility transcends methodologies. Whether it’s Scrum, Kanban, or a hybrid approach, the goal remains the same: to deliver value to the customer, empower the team, and drive tangible outcomes.
Though the title ‘Scrum Master’ may evoke different feelings; let’s focus on the core of what makes an Agile mindset successful: flexibility, adaptability, and results. It’s less about the title and more about the impact we create.
So, let’s ask ourselves, What is the perception of Scrum Master in your organization? ” Is a Scrum Master a leader that serves? or a servant that leads?
The answer may lie in how we treat this role in our organizations and the people that occupy them.
Our ability to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing environment is to always keep the customer and team at the forefront of our Agile journey. #AgileMindset #ScrumMaster #Leadership
